Abstract: In 1996 Pablo Ventura turns his attention to the choreography software Life Forms,   a new tool for the creation of dance movements. With this tool he explored new possibilities of expression in contemporary dance. During the next two decades he used additional custom software tools to create dance media works, staging the operational logic of computers. Choreographing hi pieces, he used highly complex dance and media setups. Computers were used already during rehearsal for generating dance movements. He went from choreographing bodies to choreographies of spaces with movement, lights, videos and sound.
This paper describes the process and the methodologies to create computer aided dance choreographies using Life Forms with the custom software Choreography Machine, generating computer based dance movements. The paper also describes Choreography as a creation of a Choreophony, using motion tracking and sensors on dancers, generating a polyphony of sounds.
